Extended GPFS maintenance scheduled for Thursday March 16, 2017, 6 AM–Noon CDT

The standard third Thursday maintenance at NCSA will entail an extended GPFS maintenance for the unmount, sync, and remount of the GPFS fileset . This will resolve issues with users’ GPFS quotas and utilization.

This will occur Thursday, Mar 16, 2017, 6 AM–Noon CDT.

During this maintenance GPFS will be unavailable on all LSST servers at NCSA. Any of the servers may be rebooted during the maintenance. This includes the following systems and environments:

  • lsst-dev01 (and all interactive development nodes)
  • Verification Cluster
  • PDAC Environment (SUI & Qserv)

The following filesets will be unavailable during this maintenance:

  • /home
  • /project
  • /scratch
  • /datasets
  • /software

Questions on the maintenance can be directed to lsst-sysadm@ncsa.illinois.edu or Slack #dm-infrastructure.

@daues was this expected to affect Nebula? we’re seeing a lot of issues this morning.

@frossie The issues being observed on Nebula are independent, but nonetheless they are very real. An email has gone out to nebula-announce@ncsa.illinois.edu describing a Scheduled Maintenance for next Thursday, March 23rd from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM to address the file system issues more completely.
